Our herd of purebred, registered black Belted Galloway cattle carries some of the finest breed genetics.  We are committed to improving and promoting this breed, we work with newcomers to educate them about Belties, and assist them in selecting good foundation stock for their herd. We have recently imported a new herd bull from Michigan, one of the last offspring of Prock Ridge Wally, Oceola Lyle.  Lyle will be siring our 2009 calves. We have top weanlinigs available from time to time, and recently have been able to offer fine bred heifers and occasionally mature, proven bred cows. Feel free to call or perhaps drop by and see us here in the Piney Woods. Here on the Double T Two Ranch we are proud to be part of a group that takes care of this gentle breed of cattle. They are truly a pleasure to have. We do love to sit on our porch and watch them, to me they are fascinating. We have been raising Belties since 2002 and they have taught us patience and humility and a love of mother nature, that we never knew before.

I had wanted cattle for years but I knew very little about them. My husband knew even less and did not want cattle when we had our first ranch, but after looking at different breads of cattle, we found the Belted Galloways. We both loved the mid-size and everything we read about this breed. We  have learned a lot about cattle and ranching, but there is still so much more to learn. We love to work with them or just sit on our back porch and watch them; they all have such different personalities. It is a big event around here when a new calf is born. Our ranch objective on The Double "T" Two Ranch is to selectively breed only purebred Belted Galloways the organic way, grass fed. We bought our land in 2002 and started building fence, so the Belties were living here before us. Our ranch is located northeast of Dallas, Texas close to the Red River.

When we became acquainted with Belted Galloways we fell in love with them. We were so impressed by the uniqueness, beauty and the robust heartiness of this breed of cattle, we knew immediately these were the cattle we would like to raise. The mothers calve easily, give copious milk, and are protective. Most Beltie breeders select for rapid growth, mature size, and grain-conversion efficiency. While we at West Point appreciate these standard criteria, they are no more important for us than conformation, rugged durability, ease in calving, and mothering ability. We promote natural selection for strength and character. We are a very modest operation dedicated to maintaining a small number of high quality fullblood Belties.  Fullblood cows and calves usually available. Visitors welcome.

Our ranch objective is to selectively breed for animals well suited to the rigorous climate and range conditions of Texas and the southwest.  Our cattle are good natured and gentle but they are serious range animals, not pets. Jim is a semi retired veterinarian and we have four generations of Texas ranching experience on over 1400 acres.  Speeding the transition of Belted Galloways from “novelty” to quality carcass production in “real” range conditions is our goal.  We have animals for sale from time to time.
